Grower's Choice ROI-E720 VS MedicGrow Fold-8 720W LED Grow Light for Indoor Plants
Pair indoor plants, including transplants and flowering houseplants, with the right light for strong, healthy growth and maybe a generous harvest, too, if you’re growing vegetables or herbs inside.
Snipping fresh basil from the plant on your countertop is a reality with the help of many affordable, efficient, and easy-to-use growing lights on the market. Plants need light to trigger photosynthesis which turns energy into the sugars plants need to grow, but different species can vary widely in how much light they need to thrive. Low-light houseplants rarely need supplemental lighting unless you're trying to get them to flower. But seedlings and produce grown indoors demand lots of bright light to grow and fruit. Depending on what you're growing, make sure you choose the best lights for your home and your plants.
What are LED Grow Lights For?
LED grow lights are a relatively new horticultural introduction, although NASA has been studying them for decades. Are LED lights better than traditional grow lights? That depends upon the crop on which they are used, as well as economic and energy expenditure factors. Just like fluorescent and incandescent bulbs, LED bulbs produce light that is needed by plants. Most plants need light waves of red and blue. The chemicals that control plant growth respond to both colors differently. Phytochromes drive leafy growth and are responsive to red light, while cryptochromes, which control plant light response, are sensitive to blue lights. You can get good growth with just one or the other of the color waves, but utilizing both will result in bigger yields and healthier plants with quicker growth. LED lights can be customized to emit long or short light waves as well as certain levels of color to improve plant performance.
Are LED Lights Better?
There is not just one difference between LED lights and grow lights. While LED lights require more of a cash layout, they will last more than twice as long as other lights. Additionally, they require less energy, which saves money over time. Additionally, there is no gas, mercury, lead, breakable filament and the bulbs are tougher and harder to break. As opposed to many other grow lights, LEDs are also cooler and can be situated closer to plants without a chance of burning leaves.
With so many types of grow lights and systems available, it can be overwhelming to figure out which one will best suit your needs. Here Here is a comparison of two popular LED grow lights for indoor plants, including their features and benefits they offer, hoping to help you.

Not having an ideal grow enviornment will make your plants have a hard time to thrive. Some plants would stretch and get leggy, get infested by mold and pests, and even die, depending on what you're missing when it comes to your indoor growing setup. In order to avoid these problems, I think a suitable growing tent is what you need. Here I would like to recommend you ECO Farm 5'X5' Grow Tent Kits.
How Many Watts In 5×5 Tent?
Ideally, you can choose to set up 700-1000 watts of LED lighting. For HPS, you can go as far as getting 2600 watts. However, I suggest that you only stick to the maximum of 1000 watts to avoid your plants from getting overexposed to lights.
With the appropriate wattage information for a 5×5 grow tent, make sure that your fans or coolers can produce at least 400 CFM of air. I say a least because that should only be the minimum.
Check on the heat that your lights can produce and the temperature inside your grow tent. It is just ideal to keep the temperature between 70 – 80°F. The variety of the plant you have will also be a factor to consider when it comes to determining the right temperature in your grow tent.
How Many Plants In A 5×5 Tent?
A grow tent that is five feet in length and width can allow you to efficiently grow 4 full-sized plants. Adding two more plants can still be possible with the size of this tent, but I recommend limiting the number of full-sized plants to just 4 or 5.
If you only plan on growing small plants, you can place a maximum of 12. Some growers would put 16 small plants in a 5×5 tent, but as much as this is feasible, I’d say it’s still best to limit it to 12. Growing 14 small plants in a 5×5 tent is already pushing it a bit.
For medium-sized plants, the maximum number would be 9, but if you want to leave just the right space for your plants to breathe and your setup, then I suggest you keep the number to a 7.
Crowding a 5×5 grow tent may because you to have a hard time controlling the environment. As you probably already know, it’s not really good to overcrowd your grow space.
Conclusion
With an understanding of plants’ needs, and proper equipment in place, there is absolutely no limit to what we can achieve in our indoor grow spaces. With the rapid advancements being made in lighting technology, growing your own at home has never been easier or more cost-effective. The money saved on one season of home-grown vegetables alone can justify and offset costs of even the most sophisticated grow lighting.
